Marine Corps Birthday Ball

I have mentioned the ex-Military guys that were staying at our hotel. Well a bunch of them were going to the Marine Corps Ball and had invited us a long. I didn't actually find out I was going until the day of the event so I had to rush out and find an outfit. It is near impossible to find a western style outfit. Jamie found hers on a trip to Hong Kong and Natalie knew in advance that she was going so she had something made. I did try to find a Western style outfit but after a trip to one of the malls I knew I had to give up on this thought. I ended up buying a Lehenga - basically a short top and a skirt. Folake also was wearing a version of a Lehenga. The event was a black tie event so it had to be fancy. Below is Jamie, Natalie, Folake, and myself.

Toby - the guy who ended up getting my ticket for me had met a lady named Lisa the week before. He was planning to go out shopping with her on Saturday and said she would help me find an outfit since she was more familiar with Delhi. She helped me pick out my Lehenga and then took me to her jewelers. She said that she thought the jeweler might lend me some jewelry for the night! To my surprise he was more than happy too! Below is the jewelry I wore to the Ball. They were valued at around $5,000 dollars! I felt like a movie star wearing borrowed diamonds!! If you are ever in Delhi stop by and see Vijay at Nirmal Vijay & Co.

Bellow is our escorts for the night! Marc, Jamie, Lee, Toby, and Frank!

Presentation of Colors.

The Marines that were honored at the event!

Folake, myself, and the Marines!

The Ball was so much fun! After the Presentation the party got started! It was an open bar so you can imagine! There was lots of drinking and dancing!! We were also fortunate to meet the Ambassador - David Mulford. He was a very nice man and chatted with us for about 20 minutes!
